Dr Simon Winder completed his medical degree at the University of NSW in 1996 and has been practicing in the field for over 20 years. He holds a Fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and a Master of Reproductive Medicine. Dr Tahrir Basheer is a highly qualified female OB/GYN and specialist in women’s health. She has been in practice for over 10 years and has treated many women suffering from gynaecological problems. She is experienced in the use of laparoscopic surgery to perform hysterectomies. She also provides care to women with fibroids and abnormal uterine bleeding. Additionally, she performs all types of obstetric procedures, including caesarean and instrumental delivery.
Dr Tahrir Basheer has a private practice at Illawarra Womens Specialist Centre. She focuses on women-centred obstetric care, and has completed additional training in ultrasound and high-risk obstetrics. She has a passion for teaching and is an educator, having been a clinical instructor at Dr Simon Winder the Wollongong Hospital and a conjoint associate lecturer at the University of NSW. She is also an examiner for RANZCOG pre-examination courses.
Dr Basheer’s passion for evidence-based medicine has led to her involvement in Quality Improvement initiatives at the centre. She has also been involved in the development of health guidelines and has recently become a member of the health district’s Policy and Practice Committee. She is completing a Masters in Philosophy at James Cook University and a Master’s degree in Health and Medical Law at the University of Melbourne.

Dr David Greening, Senior Obstetrician and Gynecologist, has a unique blend of skills. He is a Board Certified Obstetrician and has additional training in reproductive endocrinology. Based in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, he provides comprehensive obstetric care for women of all ages and all stages of pregnancy. In addition to his gynecology expertise, Dr Greening also has two midwives on staff to support his patients through pregnancy.
